A New Lick of Paint for Google?

The Google homepage is one of the most iconic, if not the most recognisable homepage on the Internet.  It's stark, minimal design embodies Google's search philosophy perfectly, find the most relevant search results for users as fast as possible and get them there with as little fuss as possible.

The logo does change quite often, as documented often here in our Google logo design archive, but it has been a while since there has been an overhaul of the overall 'look' of the Google homepage. is leading the way to change this and as can be seen below a new look may not be too far off.



The new look is being trialled at random to 'chosen' users in the US and knowing Google all user data will be captured, analysed and then analysed again until the right combination for improving user experience is chosen

The homepage sees the addition of blue buttons but the most significant change looks to be on the results pages or SERPs (search engine results pages) as we SEO's like to call them (cool, I know!).  The results pages have a new bar on the left hand side where results can be filtered, this offers the same functionality as the traditional blue links usually seen at the top of the results pages, but now seems much more accessible.

Only time will tell whether these changes are rolled out across the Google network but it continues to show the endeavour from Google to be constantly improving the experience their users have, which can only be a good thing.
