After a fantastic start to 2012, moving to our new headquarters and taking on 8 new recruits, we are pleased to announce that we have been nominated for the Best Use of Search at the Big Chip Awards.

This year competition has been fierce as the awards have attracted a record number of entries (261) from over 150 digital, creative organisations and freelancers. The agencies typically are from all over the North West but this year the awards have broadened the competition to include locations including Liverpool, Newcastle and Nottingham. Chair of Manchester Digital, Shaun Fensom, said: “This year’s awards have seen more entries than ever before and as a result of extending the Big Chips right across the north we have yet another fantastic shortlist, with an even higher standard of submissions.” More than 30 Greater Manchester firms have been shortlisted for an awards programme recognising excellence in the use of digital and creative technology.

Our entry was for ALA Gap Insurance. ALA’s objectives were to increase sales and awareness of their products.  All sales are generated via the website so a highly visible online presence was crucial to serving their business objectives. The aim was to obtain and maintain high rankings across GAP related search terms, increase traffic and click through rate from the SERPs and increase the site’s conversion rate. Overall we have achieved a 642% return on investment for ALA in the last year and are keen to maintain high rankings, increase brand coverage and visibility and undergo a site redesign to further enhance conversion rate.

The Big Chip Awards are taking place in Manchester and will celebrate the success of a wide range of businesses across the north of England. The entries will be judged by a panel including Jon Myers, from Yahoo, Herb Kim, from Codeworks, Ajaz Ahmed, founder of Freeserve, and Dr David Kreps, from Salford University, and will be chaired by Michael Nutley, former editor-in-chief of New Media Age. This year’s special guest judge is David Sproxton, co-founder of Aardman Animations.

The Big Chip Awards winners will be announced at The Palace Hotel, Manchester on Thursday July 5th.
